Programme Overview
The East Africa Biodesign Fellowship is a cutting-edge initiative at Kenyatta University, delivered in collaboration with the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign, the University of Global Health Equity, and the University of Rwanda.
The fellowship is dedicated to promoting need-driven innovations grounded in a genuine understanding of the unmet healthcare needs of the East African region, through the biodesign process. Over the course of 10 months, our multidisciplinary fellows take part in a transformative project-based learning experience that combines classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and mentorship from ecosystem experts. They learn to identify unmet clinical needs, carry out rigorous validation research, and use that understanding to ideate, prototype, and implement innovative solutions that advance equitable healthcare delivery.
Fellows work in two teams across two strategic locations, Kenyatta University in Nairobi and the University of Global Health Equity in Kigali, completely immersed in the East African healthcare system.
