East African Biodesign Fellowship 2025 Officially Launches with International Orientation.
January 13, 2025 – The second cohort of the East African Biodesign Fellowship officially commenced its transformative 10-month journey, marking a significant milestone in regional healthcare innovation. The fellowship, a cutting-edge collaboration between Kenyatta University, Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign, and the University of Global Health Equity, began with an intensive orientation week at UGHE in Rwanda.
This prestigious program brings together eight multidisciplinary fellows across two strategic locations: four based at Kenyatta University in Nairobi and four at UGHE in Kigali. The fellows will engage in rigorous project-based learning, combining classroom instruction with hands-on practice and mentorship from ecosystem experts to address unmet healthcare needs across East Africa.
The orientation week established the foundation for a comprehensive curriculum designed to identify clinical needs, conduct validation research, and develop innovative solutions that advance equitable healthcare delivery throughout the region.
